Description

SUMMARY

Plans safe and efficient work processes and provides documentation, training, and certification for material handling team members.  Determines equipment, material and facility needs for future growth.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Designs and develops work processes to establish safety, efficiency, and uniformity across all shifts.
  • Establishes work-measurement program, establishes metrics and key performance indicators, and evaluates team and individual process and performance.
  • Measures/trends variances from standards in order to identify out-of-control processes.
  • Identifies cause of variance and helps implement solutions.
  • Keeps abreast of technology trends.
  • Investigates and implements most effective methods of manufacturing.
  • Participates in the planning and improvement of all aspects of customer-order flow, including scheduling and shipping.
  • Develops process-flow charts, labor routing, and product-assembly documents.
  • Develops and analyzes capacity spreadsheets to identify constraints and determine solutions.
  • Facilitates cross-functional teams in the planning, goal setting, and implementation of plant improvement projects related to safety, quality, capacity, and or efficiency.
  • Identifies highly repetitive or difficult operations that can be automated. Write capital spending justifications.
  • Collects data and prepares reports that aid in decision-making. For example, labor-hour planning.
  • Leads or participates in strategic action plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering – in progress
  • Project management experience preferred. Experience with a computer drafting software, preferably AutoCAD. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.

LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of co-workers

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Proficient in algebra, geometry and trigonometry

REASONING ABILITY

  • Strong logic skills to understand and organize work flow
  • Ability to conceptualize effects of changes on interrelated activities
  • Strong planning and organizational skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

APICS and Supply Chain certifications a plus

  • Must be able to visually observe production workers performing tasks
  • Minimal physical demands, including occasional bending, stooping, and walking
  • Work in both air-conditioned office environment and un-climatized plant environment

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel occasionally domestically.

Occasional:   activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.

Frequent:  activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
