Description

SUMMARY

Investigates service requests and performs repairs of company products by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visits customers at their place of residence to investigate conditions involving repairs; determines cause of problem and responsibility for correcting error.

  • Talks with customers by phone or in person and sets up appointments for repairs, when required.

  • Relays information to dispatchers and service office representatives regarding status of service calls.

  • Performs repairs and orders replacement parts, as needed, to correct problem.

  • Upon completion of service call, ensures customer home or job site is returned to original condition of cleanliness.

  • Documents service call, observations, and action taken.

  • Submits information to service office in a timely manner.

  • Ensures that all work is performed in a safe and professional manner, adhering to company and department safety and work policies.

  • Notifies dealers of problems arising from improper installation.

  • Maintains inventory and supplies as needed.

  • Maintains vehicle maintenance and appearance.

  • Maintains stock levels of spare parts vehicle and warehouse, where applicable.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May help train Assistant Service Field Representatives

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive knowledge of PGT products

  • Experience in manufacturing and repair of windows and doors

  • General knowledge of the safe use of hand and power tools

  • Good driving record

LANGUAGE / COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must communicate effectively and courteously with dealers, home owners and office staff

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

No specific math skills requierd

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to assist in determining cause of problem

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Class D operator license

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing.

  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery.

  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.

  • In order to complete repairs, required to lift products with assistance sometimes weighing over 100 lbs.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb as regular part of job duties.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Works at various job sites and out of a van/vehicle

  • Job sites can be new construction, residential homes or commercial buildings

  • Overnight travel may be required

 

Occasional: activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.

Frequent: activity exists 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
