Monitors the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards, and training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Verifies compliance with health and safety regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. Manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to manufacturing management regarding EHS projects, tasks, and operations. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety, and Environmental Management
Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation
Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations
Prepare applicable EHS reports as necessary
Provide assistance and advise on EHS issues to make recommendations to facility management
Participates in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis
Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors
Assist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training
Observe EHS regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel
Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance
Maintains positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as customers and regulatory agencies
Performs other work related tasks as required and assigned.
Facility Specific Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
Conduct daily and monthly EHS meetings/trainings and schedule as needed
Write, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures
Perform facility EHS inspections
Ability to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE
Have knowledge and enforce compliance of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, EPA, DOT, FLDEP, etc), including company policies and procedures
Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Sorate areas and ensure regulraltyr agency compliance (i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc)
Perform stormwater inspections and ensure sampling events are collected
Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment
Oversee Behavior Based/Observation Safety Programs
Help develop Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)
Follow Fall Protection Program, inspect all fall protection equipment and maintain inspection records
Assist in administrating and maintaining compliance programs such as LOTO, Hazcom, Drug Free Workplace, Hearing Conservation, Hot Work, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, BBP, etc.
